The you I thought I knew - People may be married for many years but unfortunately sometimes get lost and drift away from each other battling demons that they no longer necessarily have time to discuss with each other. My brother-in-law lost his fight and gave up on his family, leaving a trail of dust as he drove away. In this song he would have managed to stay.
lyrics
THE YOU I THOUGHT I KNEW
Thought I knew you saw right through the many games you play
But your lies they jeopardized the rock on which they lay
Leaves me speechless, out of reach, without a road to take
I’ve got no strength left you took it all
Crashing on the shore
Floating out to see
Nobody’s there to hold me
Spinning in the waves
My head is in a maze
Trying to remember how you told me
But there is no light on the curtains they are drawn
And you’re gone
The you I thought I knew
Carefully I choose my words to make you understand
There’s no way to justify this place where I now stand
Thought I knew who I could be but she just left her keys
I watched my self fade and drive away
Crashing on the shore….
Don’t go
Don’t go away
There’s no
Way to stay in just one place
We’ve still got this boat and it’s
Crashing on the shore
Floating out to see
Please stay and hold me
Just leave the hall light on
I’ll be coming home
